The Leslie Weekly Guardian L.L.C. is owned and operated by Jennifer Shuster.
A Leslie native, Shuster
graduated from Leslie High School in 1996. She then went on to
earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Michigan State
University.
Shuster has worked for the
Vice President of Governmental Affairs at MSU, served as a disc
jockey for two local radio stations and has written for The
Leslie Local Independent and The Holt Community News.
“The love I have for my
hometown [Leslie] and for small town journalism will go hand in
hand with this weekly newspaper,” Shuster said.
She resides on Butler
Street in Leslie with her husband Trav Shuster and their four
children Camille, T.J., Jocelyn and Katarina.
“I want my kids to grow up
with a local newspaper here in Leslie like I did,” she said.
“Community events and memories are so important to a town. I
want to provide this record for years to come.”
Before re-starting The
Leslie Weekly Guardian L.L.C., Shuster was a stay-at-home
Mother, dedicating her time to her children and autistic son.
She is very active in the
community as she serves on the Leslie City Council, Ingham
County Women's Commission, Woodworth PTO, Leslie Area Chamber of
Commerce, Leslie Area Historical Society, and is the Leslie
parent representative for the Ingham ISD Special Education Dept.
Jeff Moss ~ Sports/Contributing Writer
Jeff Moss spent his childhood all across
Michigan, including the cities of Wyoming, St. Joseph, Sault
Ste. Marie, and Adrian. He also spent three years in Tulsa,
Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school in 1989 before
returning to Michigan and living in Holt and Lansing.
Moss settled in Leslie in 1992 and has
remained here ever since. In 1995 he began working at Len
Industries, where he is still employed today. He currently
lives on East Street in Leslie.
Moss graduated from Lansing Community
College with a Writing Associate in Arts Degree and a General
Associate Degree. He has had short fiction published in The
Washington Square Review, LAND, and Sabella Press.
Moss is also the editor of the online, literary journal Coq &
Bull.
