The Leslie Weekly Guardian L.L.C. is owned and operated by Jennifer Shuster.

A Leslie native, Shuster graduated from Leslie High School in 1996.  She then went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Michigan State University.

Shuster has worked for the Vice President of Governmental Affairs at MSU, served as a disc jockey for two local radio stations and has written for The Leslie Local Independent and The Holt Community News.

“The love I have for my hometown [Leslie] and for small town journalism will go hand in hand with this weekly newspaper,” Shuster said.

She resides on Butler Street in Leslie with her husband Trav Shuster and their four children Camille, T.J., Jocelyn and Katarina.

“I want my kids to grow up with a local newspaper here in Leslie like I did,” she said.  “Community events and memories are so important to a town.  I want to provide this record for years to come.”

Before re-starting The Leslie Weekly Guardian L.L.C., Shuster was a stay-at-home Mother, dedicating her time to her children and autistic son.
